Find Union County Busted Mugshots

A person's current status decides which system holds their record in Union County, Georgia. Somebody booked this morning, somebody released last month, and somebody serving a state sentence show up in three different places. The county jail and sheriff channels answer the custody question. Search them with a full name and a booking date, and send the sheriff a records request with the same details for a booking the channels dropped. The court file answers what was filed and how it ended, which is usually the more important half. Those sheriff channels, backed by the records request, are the source of Union County busted mugshots, and the court file shows how the case finished.

Union County Busted Mugshots

A mugshot is the photo taken when someone enters a jail. It sits in a booking file. That file can hold the name, the arresting agency, intake time, charges, bond figures, custody changes, and a court case number.

The Union County Jail sits at 378 Beasley Street in Blairsville. The Union County Sheriff's Office runs it under Sheriff Shawn Dyer, who took office January 1, 2025. Bookings there come from UCSO, the Blairsville Police Department, the Union County Schools Police Department, and various state and federal agencies. So a Blairsville arrest can land in a county booking file even when city officers made the arrest. Keep four roles straight. They are the booking agency, the arresting agency, the court, and whoever later holds the person.

Most of the population is awaiting trial, serving short local sentences, or waiting on a transfer. The official Union County Jail description counts 54 general beds plus three observation beds. Anyone committed to the state belongs in a Georgia Department of Corrections search instead.

Union County Jail official booking and custody records information

An image from the jail is a facility reference, not a gallery of booking photos. For current custody, start with a phone call or a written request.

Union County Booking Records, Field by Field

UCSO no longer posts a live roster. Confirm the exact contents of any records packet with the custodian. The weekly media report the sheriff supplies, plus ordinary Georgia booking practice, back up the field inventory below. Treat it as a request aid. It is not a guarantee that every item is public. Medical details, juvenile material, victim information, and sealed content may be withheld or redacted.

FieldWhat it can show
Name and identifiersThe identity entered at intake. A misspelling or mistaken identity can later be corrected, so pair a name with a date.
Booking or arrest dateThe intake or arrest time, which is not a conviction date and may differ from the time a story is published.
Booking numberThe jail transaction number. It helps the records unit locate the exact event instead of a broad name search.
Arresting agencyUCSO, Blairsville Police, school police, or another agency that delivered the person to Union County Jail.
Charges as bookedThe initial charges and cited counts. Later court action can change or end the charges.
Warrant or case referenceA link to an issuing court, warrant, or later case number when one is recorded.
BondThe type or amount set at that stage. A court can change the terms later.
Custody and release dataWhether the person remains at the county jail, bonded out, transferred, or was released. A weekly report is not a live confirmation.
Booking photographAn intake image when one was taken and is releasable under Georgia law and the agency's response.
Court date or facilityA possible next hearing or location. Confirm scheduling with the proper court, not an old booking entry.

Lead with the booking number if you have it. Without one, give the records unit a name, a tight date range, and the arresting agency. Narrow requests cut down false matches. They also help staff tell an arrest report apart from the jail intake record.

Request a Union County Booking Photo

UCSO Admin/Records handles requests for an existing booking report or photograph. The sheriff's records page lists 706-439-6066, fax 706-439-6068, and weekday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no lunch closing. That page prices a criminal history at $15. It does not confirm a booking-photo fee. So ask for an estimate on the specific report and image rather than assuming $15 covers the mugshot.

Georgia's Open Records Act generally calls for production of available records within three business days. Otherwise the agency must respond in that window with the timing, estimated cost, or the statutory basis for withholding. The Georgia Attorney General's Open Government FAQ lays out the framework. An agency must produce records that exist. It need not build a new analysis from separate systems.

  1. Identify the person, arrest or booking date, narrow date range, arresting agency, and booking number if known.
  2. Ask for the existing booking report, booking photograph if taken and releasable, and the release or transfer entry as separate record types.
  3. Request electronic delivery in the native format where practical, and ask for a cost estimate before charges rise beyond a reasonable amount.
  4. If a field is withheld, request the segregable portion and the specific statutory exemption supporting the redaction.
  5. Keep the response with the later court disposition. A booking packet does not tell the full legal outcome.

The Open Records Act allows charging the actual cost of the cheapest workable method. Search and redaction time is billed at the lowest-paid qualified employee's rate. The first fifteen minutes are free. Paper copies max out at $0.25 per page, though UCSO lists $0.10 for incident reports. None of these is a confirmed booking-photo price.

Georgia Mugshot Law and Removal

Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, covers documents, photographs, and computer data held by public agencies, exemptions aside. Being a public record does not oblige an agency to keep a web roster. Nor does it open every field inside a mixed record. The text of O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 defines an arrest booking photograph. It restricts agency website posting and certain releases tied to sites that charge the depicted person for removal.

For a regular requester, the release affirmation is the key safeguard. An agency cannot hand over an image that might feed a pay-to-remove website. Signing a knowingly false affirmation can implicate O.C.G.A. § 16-10-20. The statute never promises deletion from every copied source.

Georgia's criminal-history remedy is record restriction under O.C.G.A. § 35-3-37. The Georgia Courts restriction resources explain the general path, and the arrest date drives the procedure. Arrests before July 1, 2013 follow a three-part form. The applicant fills section one, the arresting agency fills section two, and the prosecutor rules on section three. The agency may charge up to $50. Where direct entry is unavailable, send an approved form plus a $25 certified payment to GCIC. Georgia.gov notes complete applications usually run two to three weeks.

For an arrest on or after July 1, 2013, contact the prosecuting attorney. Restriction can be entered with the disposition or after sentence completion. A denial can be appealed to Superior Court within 30 days. Dismissal, no-bill, no further action, nolle prosequi, dead docket, and not-guilty outcomes can all matter, though eligibility turns on the facts. Restriction will not erase local, court, news, or cached copies.

Current GCIC rules also protect juvenile material and the names of living sexual-offense victims. A restricted record can exist even when no adult booking result is public.

Getting a booking photo taken down takes several steps, not one. Start with the court outcome. Then check any Georgia restriction the person may qualify for. Ask the arresting agency to fix its own copy too. Some secondary sites post free removal policies worth using. Strangers who promise instant deletion for a fee should raise a flag.

  1. Confirm the disposition through the proper court before describing a case as dismissed, acquitted, or restricted.
  2. Use the Georgia restriction process when the arrest date and outcome qualify.
  3. Give UCSO or the originating agency the order or correction evidence and ask about its own held or posted copy.
  4. RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com publish free policy routes for certain inaccurate, duplicate, juvenile, dismissed, restricted, or wrong-person records. Their policies are not court orders.
  5. After a source changes, Google's outdated-content refresh can update a search result. It cannot erase a live source or another publisher's copy.

Georgia HB 162 took effect July 1, 2026. It covers certain records only. The covered ones follow a First Offender exoneration or discharge. The signed act controls its own exceptions. No current law promises automatic removal of every Union County booking photo.

Some publishers run free takedown forms. BustedNewspaper has one. So does Mugshots.zone. Neither site lists a Union County, Georgia section, and Arrests.org offers no verified local section or free route. Treat these as publisher policies, not legal guarantees. The removal rules come from the Georgia booking-photo statute itself.

Georgia arrest booking photograph law reference for Union County records

That statute text is a legal reference. Nothing more. It supplies no images. For a real takedown, go to the agency that made the arrest. Contact it with a purpose-limited request. That path is safest.

When a Union County Mugshot Appears

Union County has a local timing quirk worth knowing. North Georgia News covered a Blairsville arrest where the mugshot was reportedly unavailable the next morning because the arrestee refused to cooperate. So an arrest can be confirmed before any image is taken, released, or published. A missing photo simply means no photo yet.

The same gap shows up in weekly reports. A report can arrive after intake and stay online long after release. It captures a past window, not a person's status at the moment you read it. For a current custody question, call the jail. Then request the underlying record if you need a written answer or an image.

What does a delayed photo mean? Any of several things: intake timing, cooperation, agency review, a release decision, or a publisher's choice about what to post.

Georgia's first-appearance rules add a clock. A warrantless arrest gets a first appearance within 48 hours. An arrest on a warrant gets one within 72 hours. The exception is a bond already made. These are court deadlines only. They do not promise a photo or news story in the same window.

Find Union County Busted Mugshots

The right search path depends on where the person stands. Union County posts no official web roster. A third-party name search cannot replace the first-party routes. Someone in custody now? Call the jail phone. Need a recent past window? Use a dated weekly report. A released person calls for a focused records request. A sentenced state prisoner calls for the GDC locator. For any court outcome, go to the right court.

  1. Current county custody: Call the Union County Jail at 706-439-6080. The answer is current only at the time of the call and is not a complete arrest-history search.
  2. Recent county booking: Check the dated UCSO report archive carried by FetchYourNews Union arrest reports. The archive is a news copy of a sheriff-provided weekly window, not a live roster.
  3. Official app: Check the Union County Sheriff's Office app, while treating a blank or unavailable inmate feature as inconclusive.
  4. Released or absent: Ask UCSO Admin/Records for the existing booking report and photograph, if taken and releasable.
  5. State prison: Search the Georgia Department of Corrections offender system. That route covers sentenced state custody, not every Union County arrest.
  6. Case result: Use PeachCourt or the correct county court clerk to find the disposition. Booking charges are not the final result.

Federal and immigration custody run on separate tracks. The BOP locator covers federal Bureau of Prisons inmates, and the ICE locator handles ICE detention through its own search fields. Neither one is a county booking feed. Keep a detainer or an agency inquiry separate from confirmed custody, since neither shows that a person actually entered ICE detention.

Also keep two tasks distinct: a current-custody check answers where a person may be held now, while a records request seeks an existing historical document, image, or release entry, subject to exemptions.

Where Union County Busted Mugshots Appear

Official, dated sources come first. Secondary pages come later. The table lists each channel's custody state, photo availability, and authority. A blank result is just a blank. It means that channel or time window returned nothing.

The Mugshots.com Union page is purely historical, with entries from around 2016 and earlier. Neither tells you about current custody or how a case resolved. The unofficial booking interface appears here only to show its limits.

Use secondary pages to locate a dated story or compare an old entry. Then confirm custody with UCSO, the booking record with the records unit, and the outcome with the court that handled the case.

Busted and Booked in Union County

Union County has no online inmate roster right now. The UCSO pulled its public list on December 24, 2025. Scammers had been using fresh arrest details to call families and demand money, so the sheriff's office cut off the source. It is a safety policy, plain and simple. Booking records did not stop, though. Current custody can still be verified.

The official search fields are not web-form blanks. They are request identifiers. You provide a name, a date, the arresting agency, and a report or booking number. A phone answer and a written records request answer two different questions.

IdentifierWhy it helps when no roster exists
Full nameStarts the records search, but similar names require more detail.
Arrest or booking dateNarrows the request to a specific intake window.
Arresting agencySeparates Blairsville Police, UCSO, school police, and other agency records.
Report or booking numberPoints the custodian to one transaction or incident.

The UCSO app offers a secondary official channel. Its Inmates feature has sometimes returned a "check back later" message, so a blank screen is not a negative record. The roster-removal report gives the local policy context. If someone demands money unexpectedly, verify it through the published jail number, never through a call you did not initiate.

Union County roster removal policy and jail record access notice

That policy explains why "not online" and "not in custody" mean different things here. Note: Do not substitute a North Carolina Union County P2C result for Georgia's jail.

Busted This Week: Union County Reports

Union County does not publish a live booking feed. There is no verified same-day, 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour jail roster on the county side. What exists instead is a weekly rhythm: the UCSO arrest and booking reports get republished by FetchYourNews, sometimes with sheriff-supplied images. Each dated report freezes a moment. Someone listed may bond out, transfer, or see charges changed after posting, so treat every report as history the day it appears.

WindowChannel and photo statusLimit
Same day or 24 hoursNo official web feed or web photo viewCall the jail for current custody or request an existing record.
48 or 72 hoursNo official web feedA missing web entry cannot rule out an arrest.
About one weekFetchYourNews archive, generally with supplied imagesPast window, not current custody or disposition.
30 daysRecentlyBooked shell, no current results or images reportedUnofficial and incomplete.
Older historyMugshots.com profilesInspected entries are stale and should not be called recent.

Why does the weekly archive matter? Because the sheriff no longer hosts a public roster at all. FetchYourNews is a publication, not a live jail system, and it will not tell you when a person walks out of custody. No sourced numbers exist for weekend surges, average booking-to-post delays, or how long reports stay up. Check older reports directly with UCSO before relying on them.

Georgia DOC Offender Photos

The Georgia Department of Corrections offender search answers a different question. It covers people sentenced and committed to Georgia state corrections. Most pretrial Union County detainees, people who bonded out, and people who served only local time will not be there. And a GDC photograph is not a county booking photo unless the source itself confirms that origin.

The search accepts a name, description, GDC ID, or case number. If nothing comes back, GDC suggests typing just the first four letters of a last name and selecting all offenders. Photos display automatically when they exist, though GDC warns that many have not been uploaded. Some people who finished a First Offender sentence may not appear in the ordinary public result at all.

Record questions go to Inmate Records and Information, P.O. Box 1529, Forsyth, GA 31029, or 404-656-4661. Institutional and central-office files can hold confidential material under O.C.G.A. § 42-5-36(c). Ask for a narrow, releasable photo or public field rather than assuming a whole file is open.

The Georgia DOC offender-search page backs everything described here.

Remember what the GDC screen is: a state-corrections tool. It cannot substitute for calling Union County Jail about a fresh booking.

Booked, Released, or Transferred

Where a record lives depends entirely on a person's custody state. One name can pass through several channels in a single case. Vanishing from one channel never erases the original booking event.

Custody stateBest first channelWhat it can show
Just booked or still at Union County JailJail phoneCurrent local custody at call time; not guilt or full arrest history.
Recently reported bookingDated weekly reportA past UCSO booking window and commonly a supplied image.
Released or bonded outUCSO records requestExisting booking, photo if releasable, release or transfer data.
Sentenced to state custodyGDC offender searchState prison profile and photo if available.
Federal or ICE detentionBOP or ICE locatorThe separate federal or immigration custody result, not a county mugshot.

After booking, the court becomes the next record layer. A jail can tell you where someone is held right now. It cannot tell you whether a prosecutor amended a charge, a judge dismissed it, or a jury reached a verdict.

Old booking material in Union County follows retention schedules, not a guaranteed web archive. Under Georgia Archives schedule LG-19-060, jail booking records must be kept at least ten years after release. Schedule LG-19-061 gives jail registers ten years after the last entry, while daily incarceration lists carry only a one-year minimum and holding-cell or booking-area video just 180 days. These are floors, not promises of online access or transfer to the state.

A booking photo may fall under associated booking data, but the schedule never names mugshots as their own record series. Ask UCSO which series controls the image you want. For older state corrections material, search the Georgia Archives Virtual Vault; for a Union County booking still inside the local window, start with UCSO.

The Georgia Archives jail-record schedule is the document behind these retention periods.

Union County jail booking record retention and Georgia Archives schedule

The schedule sets minimums, nothing more. It neither proves a Union County mugshot archive exists nor that old photos moved into state custody.

Union County Court Dispositions

Union County has no State Court. Felonies run through Union Superior Court in the Enotah Judicial Circuit, and the Georgia Courts e-access hub routes Superior users to PeachCourt, which requires an account. The Clerk of Superior Court sits at 65 Courthouse Street in Blairsville and handles criminal filings. When an official answer matters, request a certified disposition from the clerk.

Magistrate Court takes warrants, bond hearings, committal hearings, and first appearances. Under Uniform Magistrate Court Rule 25.1, that first appearance must happen within 48 hours of a warrantless arrest, or 72 hours after an arrest on a warrant, unless bond came first. Certain misdemeanors, traffic, and game-and-fish matters land in Probate Court. Blairsville Municipal Court handles city ordinance and municipal traffic cases.

A booking report only shows where a case started. The certified court disposition tells you how it ended, and the clerk's office can provide it.

Need court records? Start with the Georgia Courts e-access hub. It is the statewide doorway into Union Superior Court files. Misdemeanor and traffic cases work differently. For eligible county matters, the Union Probate Court posts public records from 2014 to the present. Call 706-439-6006 with questions. A court file is not a mugshot gallery, and a headline is not a disposition.

Busted Mugshots by City

Blairsville is the county's only incorporated municipality. That means just one city page. Blairsville Police handles enforcement inside city limits. Even so, arrestees still get booked at Union County Jail. The rest are not separate targets. Suches, Ivy Log, Choestoe, and Young Cane remain unincorporated communities.

Union County Alerts and App Limits

Union County's sheriff app runs on both iOS and Android. It leans toward public-safety news, reports, and tips. Live jail data is another matter. The inmate lookup has been known to show a "check back later" message, so treat it as a handy extra. It is not a certified custody record. Never let it stand in for a call to the jail. The official downloads live at the iOS store and the Android store. For community alerts, Union County CodeRED is the county's system. Georgia's Victim Information Program serves people already sentenced through the state's Department of Corrections. None of these is a verified feed of fresh Union County bookings. A claim about an arrest can catch you off guard. So can a payment demand. Confirm it with the UCSO's published phone numbers first. An app alert or a cold caller is never reason enough to wire money to anyone.

Official Union County Sheriff's Office mobile app for public safety information

When the app lets you down, skip the workarounds. A direct call to the jail, or a tight records request, is the safer path to the information you need.
